Kybella: An Effective Non-surgical Alternative to Liposuction

Kybella is a unique, non-invasive alternative to liposuction in the neck area for "double chin". Patients who are keen to achieve fat reduction, but wish to avoid surgery, may consider this alternative for equally effective results in most cases. The key ingredient in Kybella injectable treatment is phosphatidylcholine. This is a natural substance found in the human body. Its primarily role in the body is to breakdown and emulsify fat and cholesterol. It is also an important constituent of high density lipoproteins and cell membranes.

Phosphatidylcholine is directly injected into the targeted pockets of fat in order to dissolve the stubborn fat deposits and reduce their size to more normal levels. It is particularly effective in treating fat deposits in the face and neck area, and above the knees. An experienced dermatologist will adopt a conservative approach and treat only a limited area in a single session. The key to success and effectiveness of this procedure lies in the quality and stability of phosphatidylcholine that the dermatologist will use to achieve the desired results.

How does Kybella work?

Kybella is FDA approved to disoved fat in the neck (double chin ro "turkey neck"); it is injected directly into the targeted fat pockets. The formulation makes use of the body’s own natural methods of dissolving and excreting fat in a natural and biocompatible manner. This will lead to a permanent reduction in the size of the fat pockets. The solution has two ends that behave like two ends of a magnet.

One end is attracted towards the fat and the other end is attracted towards water. The formulation surrounds the fatty cell when it is injected into the fat pocket, and then it pulls it in opposing directions until the fat cell becomes emulsified and dissolves in the blood stream. Thereafter, it gets removed from the body through the kidneys, bowels, and liver.

Common Areas of Treatment

Kybella is effective for reduction of neck adiposed tissue. It can also be used (not FDA approved sites) for most of the stubborn fat deposits that will not reduce with dieting or exerciselike inner and outer thighs, saddle bags, love handles, arms, lower buttocks, sides of buttocks, cheeks, jowls, and double chin.

In the case of men, it can help to reduce chest fat as long as the patient is free of medical problems such as hormonal disturbances. Kybella should not be used to treat female breast because it is primarily a glandular tissue. Lipomas can be dissolved non-surgically with this formulation.
